"Southern style meets Northern ingenuity in this one-of-a-kind BBQ sauce. We start with a Southern-style BBQ base and add just a hint of Michigan's own premium bourbon from Grand Traverse Distillery."

I have to pimp this Michigan company, Brownwood Farms. I never tried any of their stuff before this past weekend, until I bought their Jalapeño Cherry salsa

excellent salsa, it may have been the best salsa I've ever had from a jar from the supermarket.

Now I'm eating some boneless pork ribs I made in the crockpot and I used their Yankee Bourbon BBQ Sauce

Once again, an excellent sauce. It's a red bbq sauce that has a bit of that mustard-based southern bbq sauce going on, along with the bourbon.

I cooked the ribs on low in apple juice for 7 hours, poured out the liquid and wiped the crock pot down, the re-added the ribs and the bbq sauce and cooked on low for 1 more hour. Ribs turn out very well that way in the crockpot, instead of just adding te sauce at the start of cooking.

Just the title had me salivating. I've done crocpot ribs before and they were pretty good.

Brownwood Farms website says their stuff is sold at Whole Foods stores. Check 'em out if there are any Whole Foods in SoCal. I don't think I've ever seen a Whole Foods store myself. SW MI must not have them.

Grape Rd, Mishawaka's going to be your closest one, I think. Probably a little bit far to drive for sauce. :embarrassed:

I got the idea from this website:

http://whatsfordinnerfran.blogspot.com/2011/10/crock-pot-boneless-country-style-ribs.html

the apple juice must break down the meat or something, they turn out very tender doing it that way.

This last time all I did was dump about a cup of apple juice over 2 lbs of boneless ribs, and took one of those pepper-grinder looking things of Chicago Steak seasoning and sprinkled some over the ribs. Cooked for 7 hours on low, removed ribs to a plate, dumped the juice, wiped out the crockpot, re-added the ribs, and dumped about 2/3 of the jar of BBQ sauce over the ribs and cooked on low for 1 more hour.

Delicious :)
