Updated 28 minutes ago
We are excited to introduce the new Eastside Jazz LC, a sleekly contoured archtop guitar that bridges the gap between the popular Eastside LC and the limited production CL Jazz. With a more compact 15" fully hollow laminate body, graceful S-holes, and a Charlie Christian-style pickup by Jason Lollar, the Eastside LC brings highly refined and balanced jazz tone to the table in a comfortable and ergonomic size.

Meh.

But notice that I gave a meh with a capital "M"...that's gotta mean something.

It' has to play wonderfully and probably sounds excellent, but I'm not digging it.

I prefer this feller:

More understated...providing everything I'd need and nothing I don't. That said, I've never played one, so it might feel and sound awful. I'd all but guarantee that the Collings wouldn't.

There's a used one on Reverb for $775...it's actually a demo model.

I really want to like it - they make lovely guitars, and mine is a joy to play, and this one has a lot of features that I really like - but I really don't.

I'm a Godin fan, their archtops are quite nice, especially for the price, and they're absolutely a great value... but they aren't in the same league as Collings.

Their more expensive archtop is very very nice, though, but it's at least double the price, IIRC.

It's hot but my image of a jazz box is much thicker than that.

I know it's not really a valid concern, but it's stuck in my head.

I used to go to a local luthier who called wine red finishes "can't-sell-red" because his opinion was that few people like the look.

I happen to like the look.
