Clown Guitar Complete: 09-09-2026

...and bought a clown guitar at the same time I got the Rogue guitar. This one nearly double what I paid for my last Special II. It was $81. Anyway, it's here. I cleaned the stink off it last night and most of the parts will arrive today. Tan trim rings, switch knob and poker chip. Chrome cover set of alnico 5 pickups to replace the 12 and 15k stock screamers. Usually the shopgoodwill guitars I get require a lot of work. The Rogue and Clown, while really dusty dirty and sticky had no sign of wear on them anywhere. D.C. Shopgoodwill store, where both of these came from, does and amazing job packing guitars.

Poker chip will be here tomorrow. I have tan Gibson top hat knobs in a box somewhere. Brown ones were close by.

I have a fondness for that color scheme. It's evocative, like the avocado colored appliances of the 70s. Having one that plays well would be super cool.

It’s set up and plays really nice. Had 9’s on it I put on 10’s and intonation was good on 3 strings and a couple turns of the screw driver to set the rest. The pickups actually did bring it down to where I wanted it. It’s been a very pleasant build.
