Catan

Not a video game. A board game. Seems complex via the rules but once you play, actually quite simple. Strategy is the key and the complexity. Extremely fun.
Wife and I started playing 2 days ago with our 10 year old son. We're all addicted. Have played 6 rounds in 2 days. Takes about an hour or so per round. Check it out if you haven't.

Any other board game ideas out there? I'm looking at Pandemic next.

Pandemic is awesome. My wife and I go on a kick during the winter. She's not a gamer and plays these.

I'd also recommend:

Exploding Kittens (sounds dumb - really fun) - https://www.explodingkittens.com/buy#original
Zombie 15 (Co-op - and you have 15 minutes to complete the task/board) -
X-Wing - I mean come on... The best but it takes some investment. More than most are willing to invest.
Ticket to Ride - Good take on the road building aspect of Catan.
