Car of the Week: 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe

I think a buddy of mine in the Air Force had one of those. Looked just like it, had the V8, etc.

For the low HP rating some of those mid-'80s cars had, some of them were still quick.

Not a "looker" to me. It's way too boxy, lacks aerodynamics, sits too high and has a sagging ass. It needs two more doors and a little old lady peeking over the steering wheel.

yep.....the car that caused me to stop watching NASCAR forever.

GM could NOT beat the ford thunderbirds in 86 & 87, and especially Bill Elliot.....then NASCAR allowed GM to put the bubble back on the Monte in mid year with ZERO cars sold to the public......except that's what the rules say....must sell x amount of them. in any other sport that is called CHEATING.

see ya....bye.

From the long continuing era of crap US cars.
Interesting that NASCAR now has teams racing Japanese cars. YEEHAAW!.

I'm gonna pass on that one. As a matter of fact, I would pass on damn near EVERY other American car from that year/time frame. They were complete fucking junk, and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.

Meh. I remember the Monte Carlos of that era. Pretty craptastic cars, with or without the aero glass.
