Car of the Week: 1966 Ford ‘Turtle Top’ van

I haven't a clue why, but I really dig vans from that era. I'd drive the shit outta that.

Me too. I like those a lot. Something about the headlight arrangement seems cool.

I like vans in general too. I wouldn't probably do it, but a 70's Chevy (sp?) conversion with shag carpet inside with lots of speakers, and triangle rear corner windows, perhaps painted black with a DSOTM album cover replica on it would be tempting. Weird, I know. but there you have it.
 
If I had that, I would totally paint it like this...

Weren't these things woefully under-powered, prone to tipping over, and a death-trap if you got into an accident in them (because your legs pretty much got immediately amputated if you rear-ended anything)?
 
I had a buddy with a '66, raised just a bit in the rear, slotted mags on 60s, nice silver paintjob with no windows, not even the rear doors. It looked great.
