Being that this is a smart forum...

The cheapo houseband Harley Benton picks at Thomann are made of that rough grippy tortex. I was given one at the store and sort of dug playing around with it at home. Gotta find that again.

EDIT: Also, after I searched around in my early, early days of playing, I have stuck pretty much with about a 1.0. Originally, Fender heavy in tort, but then the green tortex, then have stuck almost solely with 1.0 ultex ever since. I am just a home player, but I get kinda superstitious about the pick I use. I have never liked floppy or soft, and certainly not bumpy, picks at all. Will be interesting to try one just to attempt to get a different sound out of the attack. The delay and compression seem to be key features to capturing and making noticeable the sound too. I would never have thought of that.

Now I can be one of those guys @OGG mentioned (but older). :wink:

Lately I've been using the Dunlop big stubby 2.0mm
I don't know what the material that they use is but it's very smooth and glides nicely over the strings.
