Bad news for Peavey

It's true. While "fugue" in music has the meaning we're most familiar, in psychiatry it means, "a disturbed state of consciousness in which the one affected seems to perform acts in full awareness but upon recovery cannot recollect the acts performed". We are indeed living fugal lives in the current economy.

Oops! I guess I typed a little too fast. Oh for loss of an "r," the argument went right off the rails! :thu:

And thats Peavey's problem. For every brilliant and sophisticated thing Peavey does they do something that makes them seem like clueless goobers. They need one smart, sophisticated exec up top who can stomp out all the stupid shit before it gets released.

Its always a sad day when an American company has to move overseas in order to stay viable. Unfortunately they wont be the last.

About those kids in the Hamptons, thry dont throw footballs, they have someone throwing them for them.

Didn't you mean "peasants" and not "footballs?"

That's a shame... peavey has made some great stuff.. the Wolfgang's were some of the best rock guitars ever built. I wish that had gotten another big name endorse to create a signature guitar for.... that would have been great. they also make some awesome amps... the jsx and classic series are totally awesome.

Peavey responds:

"After the initial shooting, Michael was given an hourly raise to the level of the job offer he referred to. Michael remains employed at Peavey; he was not laid off. Thresa’s husband remains employed with Peavey; he was not laid off. We fulfilled the rewards to the employees appearing on the show. Due to the extensive process involved with renewing a work visa, Aj’s Visa renewal is under review with Immigration. Hopefully the government will approve it and he can attend the Joe Satriani music camp as promised. We feel the show and network did not portray these issues accurately."

It's understandable that Peavey has to move their manufacturing overseas. They have no choice if they want to survive.

From a public relations standpoint they could have handled it better with the employees.

They blew it. Particularly in not handling the layoff and plant closure in a more personal manner. It's not like they have thousands of employees. They don't. They should know each employee personally. They should be out on the floor of the plant all the time. The owners are aloof and out of touch. It shows from their products and the way they handle things.

I have lost respect for Peavey and will probably not buy anything new from them in the future. Not because they laid the people off but because of the callous way they did it.

"There is a balance between profits and taking care of your people" ... to say nothing of the planet. "Less expensive overseas manufacturing" usually means "unregulated," which also usually means "environmentally destructive."

The only thing that is inevitable is whatever we all permit to happen.
