Anyone seen something like this before?

I was browsing for guitars I can't afford, and came across this pic of a Dread in a partial case. I assume this is to protect the body while allowing it to be played, but I can't believe it would sound good at all. Anyone ever seen something like this....

I was perusing a site recently - can't remember which - that had a bunch in different patterns. Like camouflage, Paisley, scratchy-bad-video-signal-kaleidoscope pattern, etc...
