Anyone here ever eaten geoduck ?

Nope, but I generally like shellfish so I'd give it a go. Supposedly it has to be done right or else it can be real tough...

It must be odd to be a chef, the first time you have to slice up one of those bad boys. :embarrassed:

I've never tried one either.......don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where it was on the menu.

I'd try a bite, though......

yo

It was my college mascot, so I had to try some at some point.

I've only had it raw, it's nice and briny and kinda crunchy

Yes. Just a big clam that is really hard to catch. digging for them and trying to catch them is fun. One of my good memories of Puget Sound childhood. As food, they are pretty tough and chewy. But just a clam.

Am I correct in believing that she cut just that thing up and ate it live?
the neck is more crunchy than tough when you eat it raw (it's probably dead by the time she's blanched it and peeled off the outer skin, etc)

I had some in Seattle's chinatown. My brother ordered it. Not something I would order again. It tastes like a clam, but the pieces of meat are big and that accentuates the chewy aspect.
