another Reaper question

Gak Pernah Cukup!
so i'm using an Alesis io4 with Reaper. just starting out and slowly figuring out how things work and where things are. i'm getting there..

except i can't seem to get rid of this microsecond delay between what i play and what i hear back in record mode.

i've set the computer for the Alesis, which seemed to solve the problem yesterday, but it's back today.

all help and insights appreciated.
 
I don't think I can help much. I used to use Reaper on a Windows laptop, and remember having a fuck of a time getting it all set up. I'm on a Mac these days, and (at the risk of sounding trite) everything just worked.
About not hearing through the phones, though, you may have to assign your headphones to a separate set of outs. Your monitors are probably 1 and 2, so make the phones 3 and 4.
