Did it have minis? They're bright. I almost posted my Epi LP Deluxe, but figured my guitars with singles were a better match. By a smidge.

Here are my two jangliest (in your price range), neither still in production. You could probably pick up one of each used for 6 bills. Or close.

Gretsch Special Jet with DeArmond 2000 singles:

Brownsville Choirboy with 3 low-output but large coil alnico single toasters, strat-style 5-way switching:

The Gretsch is MiC, the Brownsville is MiK.

What about the red Ric 620?

Really a great guitar with really terrible pickups imo. Time to start saving for some TV Jones pickups and you will have a killer guitar.

If the guitar is solid, the tv jones pickups are certainly possible. I dont care for the sound of the broad'tron pickups that are in the streamliners and the recently announced pro jets from Namm... we will see...It may be a happy new guitar day or happy return shipping day
