It is a standard way of doing it...I think the woodgrain pickup covers call more attention to it...were they black open coils the rout shape would be less noticeable...

It kind of is a standard humbucker route. They just rounded it more to match the route of the single coil pickup.

Now that I look closer I do see the humbucker rout. It just has "ears" for the mounting screws. I would have preferred to see them with pickup rings like Gibson does. I don't like that you can see the rout.

I dont think that top goes with the wood pickup covers. Top is a bit over the top anyway, even for me

I'm sure it's a great-playing guitar, but I'm not a fan of the top and the color they chose.
