Back in 1987 (during the period, when I played shredder guitars), I tried out the 3-pickup version of the Soloist (I thought at the time, that they were kind of cool, since Dr. Know of Bad Brains, and few thrash metal players used them). It was a nice playing guitar, but more than I could afford at the time. They're OK guitars - for Super Strats.

I can't imagine anyone but a prog fan wanting this, but I can't imagine an actual prog-based musician playing either instrument. Meaning with a King Crimson album cover on the guitar. Soloist style super strats are/were quite common to the genre, especially the more metal bands.
