Like the Gibson Challenger, I can deal with it - there's certainly worse for me. It's kind of neat to me in an offbeat way - they've kind of grown on me over the years. I couldn't stand Corvuses up until a few years ago.

I think that price is too high personally. I had a black '82 that I installed a pair of Bartolinis in. It sounded good and played nice enough, but it's a homely guitar and it didn't fit on my knee well, so it went away.
