Wow 4 times!? I saw it and really dug it.
Going to check out the new Spidey this week and then I'll be at Comic Con this weekend. Doesn't get any better than that!
i hope this takes off.. A place to discuse movies and comic books or a mixture of the two.. I went and saw the Avengers for the 4th time last night and it never gets old!

I usually watch it once in the theatres and then wait for the DVD to be released. Then I will watch repeatedly.

wow going to San Diego comic con is my wife and I's dream! have fun
My wife has turned into a nerd to my suprise,, and went with me to C2E2! Amazing time!
I grew up reading Marvel comics and shunning DC. (When I was a kid, DC was out of gas, and just coasting on the name recognition of its core superheroes.) Consequently, I've enjoyed the Marvel-based movies more than the DC ones. I honestly can't understand all the fawning over the recent Batman movies.
I've never been to SDCC. I wanted to go the year Rumiko Takahashi was a guest, but from reports from friends who did go, it's just as well I didn't. I think I'm too old for all that now.![]()
My wife got to meet Val kilmer and the guy who played atreyu in the neverending story! lol good times. i meet the dad from teen wolf!

Same here - never went to a Comic Con. The closest I came to something like that was in Minnesota around 1997. Besides visiting the wife's family, I went to the NMRA train show. Irony was that a Transformers Convention (Botcon) was going on next door. This I had to go to a heavy duty fan of those Robots in Disguise.

Only 4 times? Pshaw... I've probably watched at least parts of it that many times in the past week!
Yes, the Avengers is actually a movie that had made me bend on my stance against pirated movies. After seeing it three times opening week, I was given a burned copy that has been acting as a placeholder until September 25th.![]()
Botcon sounds amazing!
I think the first Comic I ever read was Spiderman... and I was drawn to the Hulk because of my fondness for Frankenstein.
First comic subscription was Marvel Team Up... loved seeing the different combinations of heroes... and then What If. I think the alternate takes on characters is better than the constant reimagining and reboots of characters. Its excused and even preferable when one of those characters burns out like a shooting star or sacrifices themselves.
I bet my friend Andy is going to Botcon. He makes pretty good money selling these vintage bots that he builds from scrap electrical parts.
I looked it up and Botcon is in houston and we missed it already!! darn... theres an anime convention in Chicago soon.. May go check that out! may be super creepy though!
Unless Botcon has changed, it is only Transformer toys and paraphenilia.
I should look it up again. It has been awhile since I went to that one. The limited releases for Botcon only sells quickly and can be found on ebay with way elevated prices - too rich for my blood.

I'd go to an Ironman con or Stark con. That the first comic i read and my favorite.
Go bots should not be anywhere! there like the nicleback of robots
Wow, and I thought I was a huge nerd.![]()
It wasn't as big as it is now. My friend wanted to draw for DC. I wanted to draw for Last Gasp. I am more into the 60s undergound comix than any other. I was able to show them some stuff but never got garnered any interest. But I did get to meet Spain, Rick Griffin, S. Clay Wilson and the publisher whose name I forget. Also got to see Stan Lee, B. Kliban and Victor Moscoso speak. And these names probably mean squat to anybody but Mr. Blanchard.
I still have the convention book from the 1980 show.
Dark Knight Rises premieres the night before I leave for Pragestock!!!!I might be a little tired when I get there.
I largely consider myself more of a Marvel fan, but I love Batman and a lot of the Vertigo line, which is of course DC.I love everything Neil Gaiman has done and was really into the first 100 issues or so of Hellblazer. I have most of the Ultimate X-men TPBs, plus reprints of the classic X-men, Spider-man, and Iron Man books. I don't have any figurines, but I did buy Ginsberg a Hulk dog to pack and kept the plush Hulk for myself.

Those are offensive to the Transformer Product line. I did see some stray stuff back when but the Botcon convention was dedicated to Transformers only.
See Bigsbyboy get it!
That's whats cool about having kids (well 1 kid in my situation). I had a chance to relive the child that I never got![]()

Yeah kids are the gateway to playing with toys again and buying comic books! It's awesome... Now if i can only talk my wife into haveing sex with me while im wearing an ironman mask ill be all set!
This only applied to my situation, I never asked you why you don't have children
In fact I made an error in my post, it should have read:
When Transformers came out, I was already in my late teens and all my small income went to music related items and not toys - standard college days. Having my son gave me an excuse to buy the stuff to play with without mama looking at me strangely for doing so.

Oh yeah I forgot to that when I was 20 and working in a music store in our local mall, I saw a kid with one of the Dynobots and asked him if I could take a look at it. He looked at me funny and said: "Aren't you a little old to be playing with toys?"![]()

OK, I'm here to shit on everyone's day. I don't get the comic book stuff. Really I don't. I read the comic books when I was a kid (X-Men was my favorite title), but I stopped around tenth or eleventh grade. I don't get the adults who are into Hello Kitty stuff or dressing up like stuffed animals, either.

Different strokes buddy.
Thank You! I don't get it either. While I have my Transformer fetish, I have no desire to dress up as one or any of that stuff.
For me it was Guitar Player in the 70's. My brother bought the Hot Rod mags which kept my cost down.
Lucky, my mom gave them away![]()

When I was kid, I never really got into the superhero stuff. I liked comics/funnies. Charlie Brown. Then I was really into Mad Magazine. In High School, I got into the undergrounds: R. Crumb et al. I had a boatload of undergrounds that got ripped off out of my moving truck while I was moving.
Well i never dress up!! i just still like going.
