Great job Phil. I finished something for the Blues recording fest but havent been able to pull anything together original yet. I may just try to find something to cover but I'd love to get something original out. I did kind of stumble over a progression I like but havent sat down and put any effort into lyrics yet.
I am anxious to hear the original fest.
Mine probably is like a ton of other songs, i have become quite adept at laying down a simple progression then layering a bunch of keyboards over to mask the guitar playing.![]()

You know, I think you really overthink things. And I do really do that myself.
A lot of us try too hard to avoid doing some cliched, whereas you'll have bands like The Killers becoming big hits. It's not really about being geniuses, but more doing stuff people will like.
Some of us really are not cut out for being the brainy brilliant type.
The world needs good pop as well.
So my conclusion really is to do whatever you feel like, chances are that more people will like it more than you'd have thought to begin with.![]()
hey phil can't wait to hear your stuff
you are one fine guitar player
Very cool!
I haven't started on an original or a blues tune. My original plan was to have the Metropolitans play with me live but I might just do a solo acoustic guitar/vocal thing for the blues....

I just rerecorded a song I wrote in 1993.
It sounds like it was written by a love sick 18 year old.
But it's the best this one has ever sounded.
I also shot video of me playing each track. I hope to be able to edit together a nice video before the big reveal.![]()

Man...
I've got my video all finished up. I may not be able to sit on this for 2 weeks. Might have to jump the gun and post it before the reveal, then try to get something else done for the reveal.
The song is cheesy, but the video is pretty cool, if I do say so myself.![]()

Maybe tomorrow. I was rendering the video this morning, but it takes forever to render....I'm talking like an hour and a half for a 6 minute video.
In my computer's defense, I've got 10 different video feeds running at once.
It was still rendering when I left. Hopefully when I get home it'll be done, and I'll be able to start the upload.
