Stone Cold Cool! Corian Pickup Rings

Just whipped these up in the shop yesterday from a 4" x 4" Corian sample I had and they look killer! Lovin' it!

This stuff cuts easily, polishes beautifully, and seems to be plenty durable for the task.

You can find samples at cabinet shops but color selection may be limited. Crank up those routers!

I'm tempted to do matching knobs, nut and pickguard! This stuff is real easy to work and it comes in some incredible colors.

Is it me or are they a bit crooked? :embarrassed:

Seriously though, they look very cool :thu:

Corian would make an excellent pickguard. If you scratch it, polishes out easily.

The biggest challenge though is milling/fly cutting this stuff down to pickguard thickness. This stuff is about 5/8" thick and is not readily available any thinner.

I can re-saw it for small pieces but when it gets wide like pickguards, the only choice is to mill it down to thickness. That's a bit expensive but, on the upside, you can remove it periodically and easily polish the scratches out of it so it continues to look brand new!

Busy times in the shop! Just whipped up this little beauty.

Pickup cavity and pickguard route on the same template!
