Greasy, grimey amp guts

OGG

Master of the Meh
So I finally got around to taking my nearly 30 year old JC 77 apart today to clean it up, see about the scratchy volume pot, and diagnose the reverb.

It was filthy! Good lord.

Anyway, after much cleaning, I got it fixed up. Reverb tank was broken as I suspected.

Works like a champ again.

Excellent

I think you might still need a step or two on the putting it back together list :;

:) it was shockingly easy to work on. Went back together in two minutes.

Next up, the JC 55 gets the same treatment.

Did you get the scratchy pot working again?

I have an old solid state VOX keyboard amp from the 80's - thing is still going strong.

Tubes, schmoobs. (joking, sort of).

Yeah, contact cleaner fixed it right up.

10 points, Alex for referencing:

Great green globs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
Mutilated monkey meat.
Dirty little birdie feet.
Great green globs of greasy, grimy gopher guts,
And me without my spoon.

you know, my dad's (when I say dad's, I mean the one I loaned his 15 years ago) JC-55 sounds a little off. Maybe I'll take it apart this weekend.

OGG, you might want to refrain from using the word "shockingly" when describing working in an amp.

I should probably do a little clean up work on a few amps myself . . . soon, real soon.
