I have a Mike Matthews Freedom amp that takes 40 D Cell batteries and it sounds pretty damn good too.

Cool! I like the recessed handle. I have one of these, which has an internal battery. I guess they were pretty popular for busking back in the day. I use it to test stuff on my workbench.

Yeah but there were several iterations, some were DC only, some AC/DC. I think mine is one of the earliest models (no frills).

This DC-in jack would imply it's not battery only:

I see it says "charge" to the right of the switch too, so I'd guess it has a rechargeable battery in there. That's pretty awesome.

Note that I'm basing all of the above on the photo only. I have no knowledge of these amps.

They look really cool though.
