If we’re going with generally foundational to what I like and why I like stuff and how I think about pop music and songwriting, it’s these.

Yeah, these aren't necessarily my favorite records, but they're huge in terms of what shaped my sensibilities. At some point early on, mostly in my teens, I played these albums into the ground and all of it stuck.

Ooh... this was fun.... I had to pick and choose from my teens and twenties.... soooooooo many albums.... but these are some of the most notable signposts. :baimun:

So many of the album spots, I could say are like a stack of 5 albums that mark each "era"... like Night at the Opera was among a stack of albums like Tommy by the Who, John Williams "Star Wars" soundtrack, an Emerson Lake and Palmer album, and a compilation album that I bought with "Wanna B Your Lover" by Prince and "I Was Made for Lovin You" by Kiss. The older ones were my parents album, but I sat with that entire stack of albums and some big can headphones with the curly cord.... and just played every side of every album over and over. It led into my AC/DC, Metallica, Dokken, VanHalen era.... but it started back then. :helper:

It's a crime that I left Terrapin Station off my list. Or Ghost in the Machine. My teenage years (the 1980s) were mostly the Who, the Police, Pink Floyd, and the Dead. And Dylan. If CDs could wear out, I would have worn out Blonde on Blonde. The 90s I was deep into indie rock/college radio. Spent most of 1993-2000 at the Black Cat in Washington DC.

I am genuinely not trying to be a contrarian dick, but I don't really think about things in an album way. I tend to think about songs, so I love' Johnny B Goode', or Only the Lonely', or 'Memo to Turner', or 'How Soon is Now', and I like them as complete statements.

Album wise I love these:

The Gun Club - Fire of Love

The Cramps - Psychedelic Jungle

Stevie Wonder - Talking Book

Stevie Wonder - Innervisons

Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics

Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure

Fleetwood Mac- Rumours

Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks

Pixies -Doolittle
