We have seriously discussed retiring there. The country has a lot of problems too, but there was something that for the first time in my life made me feel like I could live somewhere else.

Check out some of the "Expats in Italy" facebook groups for all kinds of advice and useful tips. The more remote you live, the more important learning the language will be. Nothing happens quickly regarding local officials and utilities. If you love Tuscany but not the housing cost and tourism, consider the Perugia region.

I've been doing some of that lready. Tis is many years in the future and may never happen but just learning to speak italian now is keeping my brain healthy(er)

Tomorrow is my last day of the school holidays!

It's been great. There's been years where I've quite literally done nothing productive and regretted it but this year I've not had a single wasted day.

- I was fortunate enough to visit France and Belgium to visit WW1 graveyards and battlefields with my dad early on.

- Paraded in Belfast for the 12th. Missed it last year so it's always great to get back to it.

- a week away to a log cabin with Mrs jbj and the dog plus a good few date days scattered throughout

- tonnes done around the garden, 3 summers in it's almost where I'd like it to be

- built a big pergola out the back for chilling out

- read less than I planned to but more than I usually do

- tonnes of cooking on the kamado

- making more progress inside the house DIY wise

- I'm down to my last 3 DJ gigs before hanging up the headphones but every one over the Summer has been brilliant too


It's been great. Roll on Summer 2027
