Achtung! Weekend plans

Punchy

Slacker Supreme
Slept in til 0700 today! Thanks, beer!

Anywho, gotta weed whack the yard, get our garden plants in, continue weeding the walkways. Dishes, always. Sunday the elder child takes a trip to the bay area to stay with aunt and uncle for a few days, so that'll be fun. The younger went a few weeks back and had a blast. One's in regular school and the other in online school so they have different break schedules. Makes planning anything a hoot.

I'm actually off through Wednesday, so I'm hoping to have the wherewithall to play/write/record some music, even if it's garbage, and I've got plans to at least hit the driving range with the father in law. I was REALLY into bbq/grilling for a while and that has tapered off lately, but I would like to get/keep the kitchen clean and organized enough to start baking bread on the regular, maybe even do a new sourdough starter.

Anybody got anything fun and exciting planned?

Went out for food last night.
Fish and chips were lackluster. My chicken and pasta dish was good. I won’t need to worry about vampires.

Saturday’s adventure: retrieving an artist’s paint brush from the laundry tub drain.
I have a scope with a grabber tool on the end but damned if I can find it.
Taking the tailpiece off the bottom of the sink is a no-go because other than the tail piece connection everything is glued. I’d have to pull the sink out of the cabinet to gain access to the top opening of the drain pipe. Beside, the p-trap is so low, I’d need the grabber tool anyway.
The only upside is that I’ll probably have to go shop for tools.

Sunday: recovery? LOL!

Just got in from weed whacking for the duration of Animals in Trees, had my earbuds in under my muffs. Making some progress, and I'm even more blown away by the album on second playthrough. Great job @smurfco!

@dodgechargerfan that sounds, uh, exciting. I don't envy you - a while back I had to squeeze between the toilet and bathroom cabinet to do a pipe repair 33cm under the floor. Ended up taking a day off work to do it, too, because there was no shutoff besides the main, so I had to get it done THAT DAY.

Ok, time for beer #2 and then back to work

Camping at the beautiful Lake Casitas until Tuesday. The wife is on Spring Break. She's also at the lake. With me.

Nice! Fishing? Disc golf? Chillin'? Sounds like an excellent use of time, especially with how pleasant the weather is right now. When people dog on California, I just let them, 'cause when you know, you know. *braces for heat in T-minus. . . *

edit: Oh, my wife is also a teacher! Although at this juncture she's coordinating college at the same prison I work at, and making almost 2x what I do

Last night saw the play "Proof" done by a local college with a good theatre program. Today took in a men's volleyball match at my college; it was senior day and one of my former students on the team is graduating this semester. Going to No Kings Rally today later on. Who knows after that. Probably grade papers tomorrow.

Went for a coffee today with the missus, spent the rest of the day working on a new track. Tomorrow we'll take the dog to the woods. The light is beautiful out there this time of year.

Slept in ‘till 7:30 this morning. Medicines, supplements, and coffee.

Part of our sectional couch upstairs (recliner) is broken. While my wife and son were sleeping, I started the process of trying to remedy the situation.

The couch is made of metal and particle boards. The particle boards are breaking apart on one recliner section. Fortunately, we have another sectional downstairs that is the same color and made by the same company. I carried the downstairs section upstairs by myself, snapped it all together and the upstairs couch is now fixed.

The broken section from the upstairs couch should work fine downstairs as long as it is no longer used to recline. It sits against a wall that will help support it. But, I will have to wait until my son wakes up to help move it downstairs because it’s heavy. My son is a vampire, who sleeps all day, and wakes up just as night begins to fall.

Sunday, could be another day of Spring skiing, clearing out junk, or just lazing around the house.

It took me me about 2 minutes to get the paint brush out of the drain with my snazzy new grabber tool.

I should have waited for the weed whacker for the hair cut…
It’s not bad, but it’s not good either. It’ll grow back and I don’t HAVE to look at it.

Big plan is to TRY and give the dog a bath. She's not big but old and doesn't want to do anything but sleep all day. Getting her outside is a pain. She doesn't trust us at all and can't be bribed anymore. Not that everytime she goes out something happens to her but all the same...

I'm hoping to get a long ride in tomorrow pre dog bath. Then got some Lamb chops to BBQ. We are having great weather, for June. I think the fire weather in Cali is going to be epic this year

Oh yeah, fire season is gonna suck, but it always does, and the undergrowth is already out of control. I'd say we're only about a month off as far as weather goes in our area though. Could have used a "miracle March" for upcountry snowpack and a top up on the ponds. One of these years I want to do a daily snapshot of the ponds and create a timelapse. Yesterday I saw three different turtles swimming around in the upper one.

I've never had lamb I don't think, have to try that someday. Good luck with the dog bath, we're lucky that the kids enjoy attempting that task

All of the above. They have pickleball courts too. I'm pretty green at disc golf. They have two holes where you have to cross the lake.

I took the boy to Hobbytown to get a Gundam and some other stuff to reward him for actually being on time for school every day this week. He has severe apnea so that’s actually a big deal. Today I managed to listen to three Economist podcasts and drove two towns away to get a good dinner from an Indian food truck. And I played bass for the first time in a month—I had to take some time off because I fucked up some nerves in my left arm, probably at the gym.

That's a big day! Glad to hear the arm is feeling better :)

Oooh! My Sunday has taken a turn.

I’m going to file taxes. *swoon*

Then we’re going out for dinner with our daughter (who’s taxes I’m also filing).
