Major or minor? Do you have a bias?

Dudeman1967

blah, blah, blah...
I bet I end up in minor 95% of the time. I'm assuming it's just a preference and not "pre-programmed."

Do you have a preference for major or minor when you are creating?

Minor pentatonic is probably the basis of most of my solos when jamming at least.

Chord progressions, probably even between major and minor.

My bluegrass and country roots keep me in major keys most of the time.
But dosed with plenty of blue notes and flat sevens, lol.
Its very rare for me to write or improvise in exclusively minor tonalities.

I wasn't really able to do much in major keys until I figured out that "The Wind Cries Mary" chord. That was a game changer. That and unlearning barre chords. Took me a year to learn them and ten years to unlearn.

Minor is my go-to comfort zone, so it's practically automatic, but I love the major. Always feel like I've made some headway when I can play in a major scale.

I feel like this is asking a painter "red or blue"? I mean unless you're Picasso for a few years it's kind of dependent on what you're trying to communicate from piece to piece, no?

Say you sit down to your piano to noodle a bit with nothing in mind. Do you hammer out major or minor chord progressions or single note runs one more than the other?

it's perfectly legit to say both equally.

I honestly don't really know... I guess if I had to pick one it'd be minor, though. I'm a sad boi.
