Yeah, another race that wasn't a race after turn 1. Old. Very old.
Rosberg had a guaranteed win if he could simply get off the line with a decent launch, but he totally FUBAR'd it and handed the victory over to Lewis on a Silver Arrow Platter. Then, he got desperate and stupid in an effort to try and force his way back.
I disagree about Vettel to a certain extent. No, he does not have Alonso's uncanny ability to race within a race, but he showed some truly amazing skills while at Red Bull when he found himself starting from the back of the grid or the pit lane. I recall several times that he almost effortlessly made his was through the entirety of the field from dead last and got a podium. He had a perfect car to do it no doubt, but it still took patience, skill and enough maturity to resist trying to gain it all in one lap. He can be a whiney little tyke for sure, but I hate to say it... he's the real deal.
Lewis is as bad or worse than Rosberg under pressure. How many times have we seen him completely lose his mind on track and end up in the fence with the several innocent cars/drivers he took out? He has matured a bit, but as soon as he is forced to deal with close competition he turns to mush. This is a guy who pulled into the McLaren Pit in his Mercedes... funny as that was, it showed a huge lack of concentration and awareness. It was nice of him to stop by during the race and say hello to his former crew though...
Neither Hamilton or Rosberg would have a shot at WDC if they weren't strapped into a car that out classes everything else in the field by a wide margin. Even when they are "winning", they can't keep from crashing each other out. Put a Vettel and a Ver Stappen in those Silver Arrows and watch that 30 second gap become 45 or more.
I'm just losing my love for the sport. I'm glad they lifted the radio ban, but the leadership is so confused, the rules so arbitrary, and the much sought after parity that never materialized have made it a challenge for the fans. Three straight GPs now that I have fallen asleep before lap 15. And that's watching them on the DVR in the middle of the afternoon. I used to brag about being such a fan that I went 3 straight seasons without missing a single race while it was being aired live regardless of time. No way I'm getting up at 3:30 AM these days for that shit.
