I have actually touched a couple of these, and believe me, they feel worse than they look like they would. While I do like the coloration, I really loathe deep-rudded non-finishes on guitars, and these feel like you're running your hand across tree bark.

That's a bummer, but it's what I suspected to be the case.

I still like the look though.

Maybe take one and put some of that nuclear hardened, crazy thick clear poly that the MIJ's had in the 80s over the top until it's smooove to the touch.

It only looks like a slight improvement on Gibson worn finishes to me. I think “sandblasted” is just marketing BS.

It's probably actually sandblasted. Sign makers use this technique a lot. Sandblasting erodes the softer sapwood faster and leaves the denser heartwood raised.

I don't think they look that bad, and I could even understand some people really liking them. Not something I'd buy personally, but I've seen so much worse.

I like the look but if they feel like tree bark, that's not a good thing. I like the feel of the Gibson faded finishes.

When I first saw it on a website, I thought I looked a lot like the popular MIM Deluxe Player series, with that woodgrain showing through the finish. After seeing it up close, and seeing the specs, I would stick with the MIM Deluxe Player.
