I mentioned this in the sunspot thread, but figured this deserves a thread of its own.
Not optional, everyone is expected to observe it and report back here. cop0
In this part of the country it begins around 50 pm and will still be underway when the sun sets. Those of you with Sky Safari or the like on your phones or tablets can easily see a simulation of it - otherwise check the Sky & Tel or Space Weather websites for timing etc.
And of course DON'T LOOK AT THE SUN without a *real* sun filter. (I know nobody here is that dumb, but my lawyer said I had to include that in my post). You can easily make a pinhole viewer if you aren't equipped to observe the sun. Or if you have a pool, look in there and you will see dozens of little eclipses in the ripples.
