Help! Not sure if my Pork Loin is working right

I just picked up a used Way Huge Pork Loin. I find that the overall volume is very sensitive to the clean setting. With clean on max (all the way clockwise), the pedal is loud, with a lot of clean and some overdrive. With clean on min (CCW), the volume drops to almost nothing. If you crank the volume knob, I can start to get the overdriven sound without clean sound. I guess I thought that I could get overdriven sounds either with or without clean, but it really seems like you have to have a lot of clean sound in order to get anything out of this pedal. Can someone with one of these confirm this is the way it works?
 
Well, I largely rectified the issue by turning up the internal overdrive mix. The overall volume still rises and falls with the clean setting but not near as much. I'm still curious if others have found this to be the case.
 
Way Huge Pork Loin is actually a name for a pedal?! How the eff do they expect people to find a pedal named like that?
