What bands did your friends try to turn you on to but didn't take?

I can understand not getting Kiss if you don’t want to see them live. Most of the songs suck and Gene is a terrible bassist. But when they put on the costumes, fired up the monster light rig, and shot off fireballs it was pretty cool. I wouldn’t have paid to see a second time, though.

Add me to Rush. They have a few good songs but the vast majority of their oeuvre bores me. It seems like music written to impress 14 year olds who don’t read enough to realize that those lyrics aren’t actually profound.

Remember when they made Beethoven's 5th into a disco tune?

There’s disco Star Wars? Is that why Carrie Fisher had a coke nail in Empire?

It’s not as good as Brian Setzer arranging Beethoven as big band jazz. But I can appreciate it as a product of its time and it beats the hell out of Disco Duck.

Let's Have a Funny Pic Thread! Mk 57

I run into the small space problem all the time with my Highlander. There was a fad for compact car spaces here in the past and in some shopping centers there are no parking spaces big enough. I usually have to park at the ass end of the lot or in front of a mall entrance nobody uses.

Let's Have a Funny Pic Thread! Mk 57

I’ve listened to Sleep Token and I’m not convinced that the entire thing isn’t a gang of bored wanker musicians taking the piss out of a bunch of teenage mall goths.

    This Takes Some Enormous Balls

It’s sad that the senators and house reps for Nebraska didn’t have the highway run through something other than mile after mile of corn fields. Robert Byrd would have twisted and turned that highways through all kinds of cool stuff.

    This Takes Some Enormous Balls

They have to work with what they’ve got. I could see this working as part of a bigger campaign that uses photography to showcase a diversity of things to do in Nebraska. It could target big cities full of people who want a break from asphalt and concrete but don’t like beaches.

    I am a student again.

It’s like a tab but there’s a chance that someone checked it for accuracy.

    I am a student again.

Of course out of a huge group of people I’m the only who plays bass. There is one guitar player who is working on one song. So everybody else has two songs to learn and I have (at least) five. I’m just going to figure out how to fake this shit for the next month and then worry about getting it...

    A niche instrument for sure!

It just occurred to me that it would be awesome to set this up with three melody strings, three drone strings, and play it like a bass sarod.

    A niche instrument for sure!

If you really hate yourself you can buy this, record yourself playing, then watch it back and realize that every single note was out of tune. Seriously, it’s a great idea for an instrument but not many people can pull it off.
