This lesson is just about us using the Dorian mode in a rock solo. I picked a live version of my song "December" from a show we did at a shopping mall, of all places...look down at the bottom of this lesson about the contest for this song....

This is the first in a series of lessons on the Dorian mode. All we are doing is learning the construction of the scale and memorizing the fingerings in preparation for the next few lessons on applying the sound.
If you are unfamiliar with the concept of modes or have not done any of my prior lessons on the subject you should backtrack a little and work on the "Modes from the Major Scale" lesson.

This week we are getting started on "Modes". Modes are one of the most misunderstood topics for Guitarists, and we will be learning a practical approach to using them. I might even have links to other sites where the authors have put considerable time and effort into crafting some really good lessons on how to uses the modes...
As far as this weeks lesson goes we are just learning the names of the modes and where they come from within the major scale.
Here is the construction: The numbers are the scale degrees, "ws" = Whole Step and "hs" = Half Step
