It is funny when you are choosing gear to buy or use to play because what works for you, will not work for another. The one nice benefit of playing at the blues jams that I attend is that the amp backline is there. You never know what you are going to play through and until you get there, the popourri is a clusterf*ck. On this forum we have had all types of discussions regarding recommended amps and what we recommend. I am so glad that I have been able to part of this group because had I not, I would've flipped gear like Mystixboi does.
Anyway for the 2.5 years since I joined the group I have played through Boogie's, Bogner's, Egnator's, Goodsell's, Fender's, Victoria's, Ampeg's, Dr. Z's, THD's, Jet City's, and many others. Some were good, some great and some blew chunks. The last one I played through was a Fargen.

I didn't care for it. Yes I like the Marshall sound but like all Marshalls, not all of them sound good......too me that is. This amp reminded me too much of the Egnator where it was too bright sounding and edgy. Some people like that sound but I like warmer tones. Don't know what the tube mix was but tubes do make a difference as well at the type of brand.
My latest adventure was my 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone build. Unlike other 5E3's I have heard and played through, my choice of tubes made the difference to me. After all, aren't we trying to capture our sound and not someone elses?
