Introducing my new video blog....this week on Picks and Picking!

Rate this Entry
So I'm starting a new YouTube channel and video blog specifically for this site...my old channel is a confused mass of lessons, performance videos and whatnot and I've gotten in trouble with YouTube over some live videos with cover songs in them so I just want to start over with a new channel that points over here. I also want to do a weekly blog but the lessons were killing me to turn out so this is going to be lessons, gear demos, general guitar stuff...no real format other than it's going to be about guitar.

This week I'm kicking it off with a video on pick had mechanics and a short demo on differences in pick material, thicknesses and sizes.

Here is the new channel if you's like to subscribe:http://www.youtube.com/user/MarkWeinGuitarLesson

And my first video:

The old channel (http://www.youtube.com/premiermusic) will stay up and will get gig videos and whatnot but any new lessons or gear demos will be on the new channel.

Very clear and helpful, Mark. Too few instructors focus on something so basic and SO variable as - so how do you hold the dang pick, anyway? As a fingerstyle guy just coming to electric blues, this is really useful.

Unrelated question - I'm working on learning a little funk-style stuff (first time for that, for me). This is probably obvious to most people, but what's the little 7- or 8-second riff you play at about 1.45 in the vid? I'm sure it's basic; but it's cool!

    Thx, John C

    Thanks!

If you give me a half hour or so I'll transcribe it for you...I'll have to listen back to the video.

You know, I can't say enough about how great this is. My first post on this site, I ask sort of an off-topic question, asking for some extra instruction on something pretty tangential - and the next thing I know, Mark posts another video answering my question, and more - all in the space of about 2 hours?? You've got to be kidding.

Thank you, Mark. Good stuff - I had the sliding 9ths, but I wasn't picking up the octave licks. Perfect.

Don't get too used to the instant service, I get pretty busy around here

Actually it was pretty fun to do, and the feedback and questions I get from you guys are always great for giving me direction on what to offer around here so I do appreciate it. And I am on the forum almost all day long so I'm usually pretty easy to get a hold of during the week...
