  2. Introducing my new video blog....this week on Picks and Picking!

    So I'm starting a new YouTube channel and video blog specifically for this site...my old channel is a confused mass of lessons, performance videos and whatnot and I've gotten in trouble with YouTube over some live videos with cover songs in them so I just want to start over with a new channel that points over here. I also want to do a weekly blog but the lessons were killing me to turn out so this is going to be lessons, gear demos, general guitar stuff...no real format other than it's going to ...

  3. Back in the Barrel of the Gun Pt 2 - managing my guitar sounds for so many styles...



    So part of the battle in the current band that I am in is trying to get cool sounds for music ranging from Etta James to Elvis to Bon Jovi to Garth Brooks to the Ramones to K.C. and the Sunshine band and on and on and on....at a low enough volume that I can pull it all off at a wedding gig or the "Dinner Set" of a 3 set night.

  4. Back in the Barrel of the Gun Pt 1 - Managing lots and lots of Songs.



    This was the first weekend of the month, which means that we have our regular "first weekend of every month All Star Trio gig at the Blue Beet". Its one of the few opportunities we have anymore to play two nights in a row in the same venue which cuts down on setup and tear down time but also means that we can't get away with playing all of the same songs two nights in a row.   5. Effective Rehearsal

    Last night was the second rehearsal that I got to have since rejoining the All Star Trio. At two hours, it was 30 minutes longer than the one we had back in December, and both rehearsals put together we less playing time than any of the 6 gigs I've played with them since rejoining.
