:weebz:
Mrs. P has always wanted one. Even I think they are pretty cool little cars.
Chuck, my drummer, has a '67 coupe that he's had for a while and hasn't gotten around to restoring it, concentrating instead on his '69 Chevelle.
So, he's decided to sell it. I've never even seen the car to see how bad it is, but he assured me that it will run if you put gas directly into the carb, but the gas tank is either missing or has so much rust in it that you can't put gas in it.
He said he'd sell it for $500.
I'm very tempted to at least go take a look at it. I mean, it's $500, and it would be a great project for me.
So, other than the fact that we're talking about a 40 hp air cooled engine, what does everybody think about Karmann Ghias? biggrin

I've never really been into VW's but it would probably be a fun project....I'd rather have the Chevelle myself, though :weebz:

Well, yeah, I'd much rather have the Chevelle, but somehow I doubt he'd let it go for $500.
He's also got an old Willies Jeep.

The Willeys is pretty cool, too.
The Ghia I think would be a fun project though and the price is right...

I have had 3 volkswagens over the years, i love them. They are just way too cool, easy to work on, fun to drive.
Pretty easy and not very expensive to restore either. Tons of aftermarket stuff.
I'd get a Ghia if i had the chance.

Man after my own heart. If i have the means someday, an old 21 or 23 window deluxe microbus would be one of my dream vehicles.

Would you load it with shovels and rakes and impliments of destruction and head off toward the city dump on Thankgiving?

Mrs. P and I are in agreement that we want to at least go take a look at it. I tried to get ahold of Chuck yesterday to no avail. I'm gonna try to set up a meeting on Thanksgiving morning since we'll be fairly close to Chuck's place then anyway.

Tell her to fix it up and drive it then.

As an avid VW fan you really can't go wrong.
They are EASY to work on.
There are part galore (JC Whitney and Mid America Motor Works will send you a catalog)
And the parts are cheap (Except windshield wiper motors....ouch)
I say go for it - you wont be disapointed.
