My wife tells me that I only write middles...I suppose she is right. I only usually get a chance to jot down some ideas on audacity and never get back to finishing a song.
Here is an old poorly recorded 4 track I did that basically is a big wank filled middle.http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6269749
It's in Bm. What can do to improve this? and further more how does one style a beginning and an end to a middle? The song is stolen bucket blues.
let the assault begin ;D

Actually that progression would work as a complete song if you wrote a strong enough melody for it, and possibly a bridge that used a chord other than the Bm or "i" chord as the tonic.
I have a song that uses a similar descending progression but only as the end of each verse:

since that is such a "chord intensive" progression if I was working on you r song I would probably try and add a section that maybe only had 2 or 4 chords that didn't have a descending movement...
maybe if th last time before the bridge you played the F# for a full bar instead of going to the "A" and then played this:
A Em D
A Em D A
G
F#7
and then back into the original song?

My songs are often described as "descending movements" but usually not in such a polite manner ;D
I'm playing over the progression in mostly minor pentatonics and a smattering of dorian, is there something else that would fit better?
Thanks for the input,

No problem!
Actually I would use the B minor pentatonic scale for most of it but try to target the "non-scale" notes in the chords as they go by...do you know you chord tones for each chord in the progression?

I'm not sure what your asking...I am an unschooled guitarist.

you don't have to do that I can figure them out... I'm self taught by ear guy so I don't know the notes of the top of my head, but it only takes a few minutes for me to write them out.
unless you want to give online lessons, and then really tell me where to send the check ;D

I have to order some stuff at amazon this evening I was going to pick up your book. I don't read music though, it just takes longer to figure out that way.
