I have a chance to trade my Line 6 UX1 for a Presonus audiobox and I am trying to figure out if the trade makes sense.
I dont use the UX1 for the guitar models or anything at this point. I only use it for recording with a mic. I have no experience with the audiobox but I know the Presonus stuff is used a lot here.
What I dont like about the Line 6 is the way the preamp works. It has models like the guitar and I can never find what I am looking for even when trying to change settings. I am not sure how the presonus works though.
I am still trying to find out if the presonus comes with any recording software. I use Ableton Lite now and it is fine but tracks are limited. Any ideas?

I found this on their website....if it has the original software you get some useful stuff....

The AudioBox USB is loaded with preamps that out perform any USB-based interface hands down. The preamplifiers in the AudioBox deliver high headroom, low noise and high gain giving you pure, full and rich sound.Professional 24-bit converters
Most USB recording devices operate at 16-bit sample rate and use converters with dynamic range of less than 90dB. This translates into a pinched and relatively small sound. The AudioBox USB uses professional-grade analog to digital converters with dynamic range of 102dB and 24-bit sample rate so that the digital conversion is big, quiet and musical.USB bus-powered
The AudioBox USB is USB bus-powered allowing you to take it anywhere inspiration hits. No wall warts, line lumps or power cables, just plug in to a powered USB port and you are ready to record.
Ready to hit the road
There’s no plastic here. The AudioBox USB is housed in an all-metal chassis with metal knobs ready to withstand the rigors of travel. Toss it in your laptop bag and mobilize your music creation and production. Whether you want to record your shows, mix on the plane or write songs in your hotel room, the AudioBox is ready.Studio One Artist—Plus Gigabytes of Creative Resources

The guy says it comes with Cubase LE but I havent heard back yet on the Studio One.
I think Im going to do it anyway. They go for about $150 and i know I didnt pay anything near that for my UX1.

Don't know if this applies to the UX1 as well, but I have a UX2. In the Gearbox/PODFarm app, there's a SEND 3/4 out, which bypasses all of the emulation stuff. If you set up your DAW to record Input 3 or 4, you get just the guitar without any processing. That's what I do.

I'll check that out. I am not sure I am trading with the guy at this point. I have read some negative response on the audiobox.
My other problem is I had to get a new computer and it is Windows 7. Both Line 6 and Presonus seem to be hesitant to say their stuff works.
Then again, I like the idea of trying the Cubase. idn_smilie

I think that they will probably have the software upgraded sooner rather than later. Maybe check out their user forums and see if people are talking about their problems with the new operating system. Thats what I'm doing with ProTools right now....

They do have a forum and it looks like beta drivers are coming soon. Of course forum members are bitching............. imagine that.
It's the same with the Line I already have. I am going to look at cubase and as long as it has drums and maybe bass, I will probably do it.

I had Cubase and the Presonus Firestudio working fine with the downloadable upgrades that both sites had available.

Presonus is telling me the audiobox will work with 32 bit Windows 7 but they dont have a driver for 64 bit and dont plan on developing one.
