An exact recreation of the original LPB-1 circuit that ushered in the age of overdrive in 1968. Put the LPB-1 in line with any effect to provide boost and definition. Improve the gain and saturation of your amp.

How transparent are they?

it adds a bit of girth and grit.

think of the LPB as halfway between a full range germanium boost and a clean boost. it adds a bit of girth and grit, but doesn't go crazy like the germ boost does. nor does it stay completely clean like a mosfet boost.

i tend to use it after distortion instead of before.

this is also the circuit that the Way Huge Angry Troll is based on. the difference being that the Angry Troll has settings to cascade multiple LPB silicon diodes into eachother, upping the distortion.

I actually preferred the other pedal in the shootout (more note clarity). But I can see the LPB-1 being a great solo boost. It definitely adds a bit of low mids and more grit.

The pedal I'm really excited about (and really shouldn't be) is the Time Machine Boost. I tried one Friday and really liked how the "modern" side sounded with my Deluxe. I got to try a couple of pedals out today... - The Forums at MarkWeinGuitarLessons.com
