I'm sick of my own playing and trying to make some changes in the limited time I have available to actually work on my OWN playing rolleyes1
I figured that the process might be as educational to the guys who use my lesson videos at www.MarkWeinGuitarLessons.com (even if its a "what not to do :o) as the lessons themselves....let me know what you think! I just have a couple of entries up for the last week or so....
I know I'll be anxious to follow. I tend to get in a rut with my practice (same old things over and over) and this will help me break out of that and try new things.

Everyone will be everyone elses support system!
I think doing it "publicly" will keep me a little more honest and on track...at least for a while :D

I'll be watching this with interest too. I've been putting in a lot of practice time, and am improving a little (very little, it seems), but I think I'm as frustrated as I've ever been with my playing.
I'll be looking forward to seeing how you go about this, Mark.
As always, appreciate everything you do!

I think that this is going to be helpful to many of my "in studio" students...a big part of my job with adults is just the management of frustration since an adult student generally wants to be told what to do and then just make it happen and it just doesn't work that way....

Well, my old blog is no longer in existence (although most of the articles are still here on this site) but it's interesting to look back at what I was trying to do here and where I am two years later. This thread was partially me trying to resurrect my playing after not gigging for a few years and watching my skills deteriorate at an alarming rate. Almost a year ago I started playing again every thursday night with the house band at the blues jam that Premier Music sponsored and then I was asked if I wanted my old gig back. That's changed the focus of what I've been practicing but it's also lit a fire under my butt to improve since what I'm working on is now directly generating money for my business.
The biggest changes I've seen since I originally wrote this are in my technique....not just a "fast" thing but really an ability to play more cleanly and forcefully. The next thing is just in vocabularly...I've spent the last year also cramming tunes for gigs and being sent suggested listening by Tom Harkenrider and writing a "Lick of the Week" podcast...suddenly I have more to say when I pick up the instrument.
This year I'm still playing but I'll need to geet to work on a few new guitar books in addition to all of this. I wonder what impact that'll have...
