Hi guys,

Hopefully one of you large cranium'd musicians can help me transpose these into something tonally close, but easier to finger.

I am working on the Acoustic "wave on Wave" by Pat Green.

The chord progression in the song follow the intro closely but it looks like these fingering in the sheet music are either his personal taste, or just made difficult for the sake of being difficult.

D---Dsus2---Dsus4---D

G5---GMaj7 (no3rd) ---Gsus2---G5

Asus4----A---A7sus2----A--

The fingering for the G's in the music book are

G5

e||----|----|-4--|----|----|
b||----|----|-3--|----|----|
g||----|----|-0--|----|----|
d||----|----|-0--|----|----|
a||----|----|-X--|----|----|
e||----|----|-2--|----|----|

GMaj7(no 3rd)

e||----|--1-|-----|----|----|
b||----|----|--3--|----|----|
g||----|----|--0--|----|----|
d||----|----|--0--|----|----|
a||----|----|--X--|----|----|
e||----|----|--2--|----|----|

Gsus2

e||----|----|----|----|-4--|
b||----|----|-3--|----|----|
g||----|----|-0--|----|----|
d||----|----|-0--|----|----|
a||----|----|-X--|----|----|
e||----|----|-2--|----|----|

Is there an easier fingering for these ? I can't hit them for some reason.

It took me a second to realize that the numbers on your charts were for the fingering and not the frets :facepalm:

Now that I've played them as written they make sense...I'm not sure you can get this to sound right without fingering the chords as written...

so dumb follow up.

How is the chord played when the voiced strings are broken up by a non-played note ?

Do you just strum it like a regular Open chord, and mute the non-played string ? Or do you just play the top of the Chord ?

like this...the 5th string is muted by the bottom of the 2nc finger on the 6th string. You should be able to strum all of the strings and only sound what you want us to hear like that...

I actually play G quite often with just my ring and pinky, muting the A string. This gives me some flexibility to do other stuff.

I dont know if its right, but it works. idn_smilie

I'll do that sometimes...
