She is so fun to drive - but I can't believe people would drive it across the US back in the day...

I love the old bugs. I could see myself driving that thing everywhere.

Fantastic.
Now i need to find one that i can pull the engine and tranny out of for my buggy.
I hate being broke. But congrats. Bugs are not mere cars, they are family members. :aok:

Sweet!
It shows you how we take for granted the creature comforts in modern cars...my truck has manual windows, doors, brakes, no A/C or radio. Its wheels and a seat....

I got this for my wife a few years ago for a Mothers day present. Her first car was a 1973 Super Beetle. She calls it "Tinker Bug" - hence the Tinker Bell sticker you can see on the back.
Other then the floor plans, rims, break pads, tires and carpet - it is all original - even down to the AM/FM radio with the 4 inch speaker and the push button program sets.
This is a 1600 CC - probably has all of 40 HP.
I'd like to find another one that I could drop the engine - rebuild it a few sizes up - dress her up, add a performance tranny and pimp it out with bling and chrome.
