Well gents, I said I'd do a vid so here it is :o It cut off on me, so there's barely any channel 3. Apparently photobucket only allows 5 mins.
I am gonna do a vid of each channel, because each individual one is very versatile in itself, especially channel 2. But I said I would post one right away and I tried to just do a quick overview of the range of tone. Keep in mind my camera likes to capture the high end and not pick up the low-mid stuff so it sounds 10 times more full when you're actually in the room with the amp, but I think the vid still gets the idea across. Extremely versatile amp and every sound is great. Talk about tone. Teh mesa has it. love0

Oh, watching it back I notice some slight tuning issues. They're brand new strings and are barely stretched so they're still sensitive to the slightest touch, so when I move it seems like it goes out. Sorry. I will have better vids soon. I have no use at all for this thing but something tells me I may keep it indefinitely. I lubs teh Mesa! love0

And a full channel 3 demo. Again, it's too trebly in the vid and you dont get the sense of the real chest-thumping this sucker will do. But here ya go. I had to do some metal riffs :o

Straight into the Mesa. No pedals, no effects. All of that tone is the amp.

Is it and the 5150 the same wattage head? Are they similar as far as ear bleeing volume is concerned? (meaning, volume levels are set about the same?)
That is just a killer amp dude. You scored big time. :aok::aok::aok:

Actually, from what I was able to tell, the 5150 is louder. But that's like saying a drag car is faster than a Ferrari. A drag car is certainly faster off the line but a Ferrai is certainly fast enough for anything and does so much more than a drag car, if that makes sense. The 5150 is a 120 watt head, the mesa is 100. 100 watts of tube power is way louder than anyone ever needs as it is :o

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Inside a house especially, a 15 watt tube amp is more than enough. hahaha.
You might have to start figuring out a way to gig. biggrin

Haha yeah. What really sucks is that I have no way of really recording the mesa. Most of my absolute favorite tones of all time were Mesa Boogie. "Sad But True" always just blew me away...the tone, oh man, that tone. Heaviest sound EVER. Of course, that was a MKIIC+, or a MKIV depending on who you believe, combined with who knows what else and what mics.
My favorite song/tone of all time was done with a Dual Rec. I did part of the main riff of it on the second video and I can sure enough tell that this is, indeed, the real deal. I dont have the exact sound dialed in but this is for sure the amp that did it. Listen, but keep in mind this vid is a little muddy compared to the CD.

Now that I actually have one, I gotta say the model of it on my guitarport is ..... I dont know. I cant think of something terrible enough to say. Compared to the real deal, the modeler just sounds like utter ASS. Funny, cause it is a sound I use a lot, basically any heavy recording I have on my soundclick has a track with it on there.

Oh, I also have to add "Dont Tread on Me". Another Mesa tone that just absolutely kills. Oh man. One of the biggest ballsiest tones ever.

You've just discovered the truth of digital modeling. You CAN get good sounds recorded with modeling software but it never really sounds like what it is supposed to be modeling. As long as you are getting a tone that works for the recording the it really doesn't matter, though.

There is a presence in a good tube amp that goes beyond the analog wave form that is being copied, and it's that extra something that makes the tube amp what it is. I like modeler stuff to a degree and use my pedal all the time, but it cannot ever replace a tube amp. No way...
BTW - that amps sounds awesome Chihili. I even liked the clean stuff!

I really wish you could hear it in person, the cleans sound really great. I definitely need to keep this thing long enough to bring it to Pstock so you guys can try it out. It's one of the VERY few pieces of gear that I believe we would all agree is HAWT.

The Schfifty-One-Schfifty was more BREWTALZ! :weebz:
This one certainly has a better clean tone and would do a loverly lead! :aok:

Hmmmm......I dont know man. The 5150 had more low end, and it had a different kind of brootalz. But this sucker certainly can do brewtalz. Maybe I should do a vid once I get a really great sound for the chugga stuff.
The Mesa definitely is much more versatile and has a great clean, a great crunch, a great lead sound, everything. The thing is incredible, its a total tone machine from cleans to metalz.

I still haven't made it all the way through the first video. I started it the other night, but only made it about 1/2 way through before my connection crapped out.
I'll try to get it listened to in the morning.

Better metal sound. Still sounds weak on the camera, but taking the advice from some mapz forum d00dz, I got a better tone out of it. Sorry for the feedback, it was loud and I was sitting close.
