This is just a question. What is the Direct Out used for? ::) I figured out the output and input so I'm not that.... :-[

The direct out should be for "un-effected" or dry signal....you can have your signal with the delay effect coming out the normal output and you can have a plain "no delay" signal coming out the direct out if you wanted to run that to another amp or blend them somehow after the pedal....

Mark, let me see if I get this straight. The Direct out is used if I don't want to use the pedal, and I plug in the guitar there still. Hmm. sorry still a little confused

If you want you can have 2 amps and run one "dry" with no effect and one "wet" with the effected sound and blend them onstage...or run the dry out to a tuner or other signal chain...

Wow!!! Now thanks Mark for explaining it to me in more simple terms. I don't have 2 amps and probably never will, but I did always wonder about the Direct Out, what it was for. messedup

Just to muddy things up...
I don't know about the boss pedal, but on some pedals, you can run an output to the amp as normal, and it's got another output for running direct to a mixing board or recording interface. If that's what it is, then the Direct Out is still gonna have the effect in the signal, but it's gonna be impedance matched to run a cable straight to the board so you can run direct instead of micing the amp.
