Long story short... A buddy of mine decides he wants a blues jr to do some recording. Shortly after decides that this isn't really what he wanted at all. I send him a text to see what he's up to. blah blah blah back and that he wants to get rid of the blues jr.

To my surprise it's the tweed version and dead mint. It took some tweaking to get it to where I thought it sounded good. Maybe it's the EL84's and I'm used to 6L6's these days, but I got it pretty close. It doesn't seem to have as big of a bottom and not as much sparkle on the top end. It's not as complex of a sound as I am used to, but totally usable. It also might be that the speaker needs to be broken in. Plus, it's a Jensen and I have never had an amp with a Jensen. The amp still has the plastic on the nameplates. I'm not ready to give a real review yet, still need to play with it.

As you can see from the pics there is some serious eq'ing with the middle all the way down, the treble on 3 and the bass on 10 and no fat switch engaged. Anything higher on the middle or treble was too puky bright, but again, it needs to be played for a month before giving a real review.

It's gig loud.

Here's some pics

Looks great. That EQ setting is troubling though. :o

tell me about it, I had heard of other guys having to pull the mids all the way down and I thought it was BS. Plus it has the Jensen which I hear is even middier. idn_smilie

Of course, I'm one to talk. Here's how I always set the EQ on my Classic 30. :o
