The heck with the pierogis...where can I get to see more of HER! love0
Wait...doesn't he speak English? What's up with that?!?
OK...I had to stop it. Her speaking English and him speaking Russian is annoying. All the more reason to hate the Pens.

He does but not very well. He just got here from Russia not that long ago. Couple years. Most of us think he milks it so he can get out of interviews. He is actually kinda shy. I think he is hilarious though with that stupid grin and broken English. He tried a couple times to speak English in that vid but you almost cant understand him.

If he's one of your team leaders and is 'milking' not being able to speak English so he doesn't have to give interviews...well, that's pretty pathetic, don't you think? Doesn't really speak for a team leader. Your statement has given me that much more respect for Crosby, then.

Being that it could end up as a Flyers/Pens series in the playoffs, I could be so fortunate... :o

Well, if he DOES milk it, which is only speculation (and Im pretty sure he did at least for a while there) then I dont really have that big of a problem with it. I much prefer that to the typical pro athlete today who is always spouting off about this or that. If he does, it isnt to be a jerk by all accounts. He's kinda shy. He leans on Sykora and Sarge a lot still (they both speak Russian and are helping him learn his English)
His team likes him, and he leads by his play. He always goes out there and gives it his best. That's what I want to see. He gives interviews a lot more than he used to, though he still gets uncomfortable in front of the camera according to most around him if they speak of it at all. I like that he doesnt seem to be arrogant. When he does give interviews, it's always "well, they set me up for it, good team. Sid is great passer. Sid best player." etc.
A few weeks ago, we were trailing at the end of the 2nd. Malkin offered them a grand each if they came back and won it. He never said that, some of the layers leaked it. They love him. Stuff like that makes me like him. If he is camera shy, I am cool with that.
I wont go so far as to say he is the best in the league. I will actually admit that I think Ovechkin is. (shhh). But Malkin is my favorite player. He doesnt whine, complain, or act like he's better than anyone else, He plays his butt off and he is downright fantastic.

I can kinda respect that. HOWEVER (and I know this is the food section and isn't the place for philosophical sports debates) camera shy or not, the moment you become a professional athlete, you are automatically thrust into the public eye. He's 1) one of the team leaders, 2) the points leader in the league, no? and 3) making a gazillion dollars. He has a responsibility, IMO, to meet with the press and talk to them, uncomfortable or not. The only way to get over that is to do it and get used to it. Now, there is definitely something for humility and the pricks who are on the other side of the coin (like the Terrell Owenses of the world) shoudl shut up and crawl into their holes.

I agree to a point. But coming over from Russia, not speaking English, and having cameras in his face all the time has gotta be rough. I know, boo hoo making 9 million a year, man up and do it. And he does, more and more. I would never have thought he would do something like that cooking show.
I will take a guy like Malkin ANY day over a guy like Jagr. Man what a jerk he turned out to be.

Or how about Ovechkin with his staged goal celebrations? Ass.

Yup. Sorta. I think we are the only big hockey fans around. Did you happen to see AO wave off Crosby last game? I cracked up laughing despite myself.

Ovechkin is such a jag off but I still laughed like a madman when I saw this. It was funnier live, watching the game for some reason. The wife and I were both losing it.

I wasnt even mad at him. He got the better of Sid on that one, Sid should have dropped the attitude and just given him some shit back, not gotten all pissed off about it. One of these days, though, Sid is going to beat the snot out of Ovechkin. Seriously, I really think one of these days those 2 are gonna drop the gloves and go for it. My money is definitely on Sid.

Well...yeah. Sid's a good Canadian boy and Ovechkin's a Russian. They aren't exactly known for their fighting, are they? Even though he's bigger, I definitely give Sid the nod. I'd love to see him have at it.
