Can't get any decent crab now anyway. It's been a pretty shitty year for the ol' dungeness:( (When you can get them at all they are $9/lb and frozen:mad:)

We bought 2 last weekend for my wifes birthday. Then we made Chili Crab

for appetizers, then it was time for home made sushi. She ordered some Unagi (bbq'd Eel) and Uni (sea urchin roe) over the 'net, bought some fresh Ahi and prawns. We did the Ahi raw and seared, tempura'd the prawns, had the sea urchin roe 3 ways; raw, broiled and saute'd in olive oil. Made some interesting rolls and Nigiri towers. Sorry, no pics again:facepalm: but it's the best we've ever made at home.

If you have never tried the urchin, it was surprisingly great. I had been wavering about it, but we kept seeing shows where they described the taste as 'the flavour of the ocean', and they were absolutely right. I had envisioned something like caviar, fishy and salty. Nothing even close. The taste is like a slight salty nasal drip in the back of your throat after a long day of swimming in the clean waters of Hawaii.love0






That pic was from Christmas Eve (our wedding anniversary) and yes those rib eyes were over 1" thick, baby.

It was a damn fine meal, too. We used the Miso glaze after I grilled themlove0

The crab died an hour before we ate. Doesn't get much fresher than that.
