The Sonys are good. However, I use a couple of pairs of $20 Sennheisers that I really like for tracking. They have good outside isolation, meaning that you don't hear any bleedover when you're doing vocals, and you can track drums with them without having the volume so loud that you're deaf in 1/2 hour.

Don't ge me wrong, the Sonys are definitely the better headphones, but I find myself using the Senns more. :idk:

I should also say that my Sonys are not exactly that model, but they are roughly equivalent. I paid about $100 for them in 1991 and they've been going strong for the last 20 years. I do need to replace the pads though, only because they've dry rotted from all the sweat. :o

Still work as well as they did 20 years ago though.

I'm forwarding links to Mrs. R. I'm trying to come up with Christmas ideas.

I have the cheap ones Prages has too. I think he recommended them to me back when I went to the other forum. Great for tracking. I give them two thumbs up. :aok::aok:

I have a pair of Sennheiser head phones that look a lot like the ones Prages posted. They might be the next model up maybe - I think they cost me about $50 - $60. Just be sure to get studio monitoring phones and nothing with 'enhanced bass' since that will mess up mixing and eqs.

Mine might have enhanced bass, but I don't use them for mixing...only tracking, so it doesn't really matter as much.

Any recommendations for over the ear with a decent cord length? I play through my phones at home alot so as not to disturb everyone and my cord is way too short. So short that my amp is set up on a table next to me and I still have to sit down.
I need like 8 feet. 6 at least. Mine are only 1.2 meters.
Koss QZPro. Yes, I'm aware they're not studio monitors.
Is there a cord extension for 1/8th inch that's lossless?

I was going to give a recommendation until you started talking meters. Traitor!

LOL! I don't do conversions so I mixed and matched. All the phones I look at have meters. Except the Sony's. Found one with a 6' 8" cord! Out of stock everywhere of course. Must be old model.
MDR-150 or something.

Couldn't you just get extension cables? They make 25 footers, not sure what that is in meters....

In my home studio I have four 25' extentions for jam days, running out of our headphone amp. Gives everybody enough room

Yeah, I have a couple headphone cable extenders, mostly 25'. Just don't get the curly ones though.

I'm thinking the cord on my Sennheisers is something like 10 feet long.

Yep. I checked and I have the HD202's as well. 10' cord. I am sitting right next to them right now (going into work late today).

Me too, they have a very long chord. 100 meters I think.

just think of a meter as a yard.
it's close enough.
so your level meter should run from your back gate to your front walk.
clear?
