Year: 1965
Manufacturer: Gibson
Model: Melody Maker D- GrinningElk Music Co.
Case: Original Soft
Color: Cherry Red
Condition: Excellent
Description: This gorgeous and brilliant cherry Melody Maker is from late '65 and makes more noise than a guitar with two single coils ought to. It's a screamer and so lightweight, you won't even realize you have it strapped on until you've violated every noise ordinance in your town and then it's too late anyway. The original chipboard case is also in excellent condition and as we were cleaning the inside of that said case, we found the original owner's manual.
$1,895.00

I normally am not as into double cuts, but that looks really nice.
Are those trems any good?

I'm really not a fan of Melody Makers...old or new.
They really do just feel like toys to me. There's no substance to them at all.

Is that really a guitar from '65? If so its in great shape. The only way I like Melody Makers is set up for slide, though....

Are the bodies on those small like a LP jr or are they a bit bigger?
I'm intrigued enough to want to sit down and spend some time with one if I had the opportunity

I've wonder what those SC pickups sound like? Not a bad looking guitar, and definitely in amazing shape for a 44 year old guitar. But that trem is hideous looking....

The ones I've played have been about the same size, but about 1/2 as thick as a LP Jr.

Nope, they were the regular single and double cut models.
I swear the bodies on the Melody Makers are at least 1/2" thinner than a LP Jr.

You can tell in that first pic how thin the body is. Compare that to the thickness of a LP Jr.

OK...I'd probably strum a few chords and put it down then.
