ok, hot sauce fanatics. i got some Cholula and Sriracha yesterday. i'm looking at you to provide the proper proper food pairings for both of these and Tapatio, which i'm on the lookout for at the local grocery.

I've never had Cholula.

Sriracha I'm not the biggest fan of, but I like it on Chicken or vegetarian dishes.

Tapatio is my favorite all around sauce...I especially like it in black bean soup but its great for beef and chicken.

Sriracha is fantastic on eggs:aok: Also good for most asian dishes.

Cholula is a fair immitation of Tapatio, which I put on a lot of different things, mostly mexican.

I like cholula with anything beef, including burger of course.

As mentioned, sriracha is great in asian dishes.

One thing i really like to do however is mix some sriracha with ranch dressing for my salads. They fit perfect together.

I use Cholula on just about anything that is sauceable. They stock it at the Qdoba I frequent and it is awesome on their burritos!

I don't have Sriracha at home, but I usually use it on Asian food. It is great on Thai noodle dishes...

Dammit. Do I have to go buy a bottle of Sriracha now? You guys are making me crave it. :o

I use sriracha as a direct replacement for Ketchup. That, to me, seems to be the way to use it. I'll slather it on a burger, or over a brat. I don't really like the flavor when you mix it into a dish. IMO, there are much better sauces for mixing with food.

Sriracha is a condiment. :o

I so far have found Cholula and Tapatio here locally, out of all the recommendations you guys gave me in the other thread. Both are good on about everything I've tried, but neither is quite as hot as I prefer. Going to be looking for some of the others you guys spoke of. I think my favorite of what I've tried so far is still Mezetta's California Habanero. It's fairly hot and has awesome flavor, especially great for chili and wings. The only thing we've found so far that's better is actual smoked habanero peppers.

The one local Pizza place I really like has these hotwings that have a very different sauce but it is still pretty hot...kind of BBQ-like but still tastes like hotwings and I love to dip my pizza in it...

Actually thats exactly what i use, although cholula fits well too. Vinegary stuff works well on pizza.

Um, I hate to point out the obvious, but you ARE in NYC. I really cant imagine wanting to put hot sauce on a piece of NY pizza.

i really don't see the big deal. especially if i'm gonna put on extra oregano, garlic powder, and basil. so its either red pepper flakes or if i'm home and reheating, maybe tobasco.

No reason you should when I am sure a block away from any shitty pizza is really good pizza, and a short subway ride is absolutely amazing pizza. Next time up there I am scouting Brooklyn for the good stuff.

i've been putting Cholula on pretty much everything. the Sriracha has taken a backseat, but i think it'll make a comeback tomorrow when the GF makes stir-fry.

also, i got some Trader Joe's hot sauce. i haven't tasted it yet, but its got a VERY strong smell. its not quite as hot as their habanero sauce, but i have a problem of always using too much anyway.

I need to get some Cholula...I don[t think I've ever had it. I love Tapatio, though..I think they occupy similar spaces in hot sauce world...

Yes. Some things i still really like tobasco for, its actually really great to sprinkle over a bagel before spreading cream cheese. Its thin so it soaks into the bagel a bit, then just spread the cream cheese over the top, thats fantastic.

But Cholula is one of my faves.

I will eat anything with Tapatio on it...I pour it on chips, plain tortillas, saltines, pizza, eggs, burritos, my finger...

basically anything.

Trader Joe's Chili Pepper Sauce: tasty, but not hot.
