No making fun of my playing cop0 I never know what to play when Im in a store trying out an amp and this was no different. Having a camera on me didnt help. I felt like an idiot. :o And yes, that's a bad rendition of Panama, I dont really know the tune but since it's a 5150 I figured you guys would want some VH.

Anyway, here ya go.

Hm. No. The FIRST first generation 5150s had the block letter EVH on the head. This is the same thing just cosmetically different. It isnt a 5150II but it isnt the really first "EVH" 5150.

I'll check out the video maybe tomorrow.

I remember when the 5150 combo first came out, I plugged into at my local music store. First I hit an E chord. Then I played Panama.

I've never gotten one, but I've always wanted one.

I actually have an old high school friend who's never been in a band, had about 6 months worth of guitar lessons, and still lives in his parents' basement. (He's my age and I'll be 34 in a few weeks).

He's got a Wolfgang Special and a block letter 5150 half stack that's never left his bedroom.

I should try to get it from him for cheap. I haven't talked to him for a few years, but I bet he never plays anymore.

Man I like that. I have absolutely no justification for that kind of amp power, but if I did, wow.

I've always hear that the early ones are great amps and that the 5150II's weren't so good....I'd love to try one...

I tried a 5150II. Didnt like it. Lots of haters on the original too though. The preferred term in the amp forum is "a can of bees". I dont think mine sounds buzzy at ALL. Very warm, lots of bottom end, etc.

I should have just let an E ring till it died off naturally haha. I still would be down there making the vid. It's an absolute monster.

In all seriousness, prolly not so good. The gain is just so in your face that I think a single coil would be WAY too noisy.

That sounds great. I got first dibs :D Most folks that say they sound like bees don't know how to set up their amp. When I bought my VTM (basically the precursor to the 5150) the guy said to try it out. It sounded so bad that I almost didn't buy it. I did some fiddling and instantly found a great AC DC tone. So for those in the know, these amps are not a can of bees. They crush:aok: And Chihli, you can't imagine how close our voices sound. It's scary. or this  I dug the playing too. :aok:
