I am generally not a big fan of Martin guitars, but I ran into one at a used instrument store this weekend that was a definite exception. It is a 1967 Martin D-18S, the 'S' standing for the slotted headstock. It is a 12 fret slope shoulder dreadnaught. For a 44 year old guitar it was in pretty good shape. Mahogany body and sides, spruce top and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. This sucker just sang. Great balance between the treble and the bass tones and the harmonics were incredible. The neck was a little bit wider than standard and that required a playing adjustment when I first picked it up, but for fingerstyle playing it was really nice. They were asking $2000.00 for it which is probably towards the top end of what these would normally sell for, but in this particular guitars case it would be worth every penny. The pic below is the actual guitar....

If I were a rich man I would have bought that guitar on the spot.
